So for some crazy reason my dad decided to replace our Suzuki 140 with an Evinrude etec 150 on our Sea Pro SV2100CC...

What kind of bump should I expect?

bump? as in speed? not much, but why put an e-tec?? im going to be the first to say it, should have put a 150 Yamaha and been done with it.

one thing I do know is they are quiet. but going from a 140 to 150, I doubt you see much performance gain

Suz140 on a 21' bay boat sounds woefully underpowered.
what kind of performance were you getting before?

I said we shoulda stuck w/ Suzuki so no need to replace everything else or at least get a Yamaha but my dad is stubborn and does not listen to reason.

meh 38 top end speed. It's a light hull - only 1600 lbs.

that just doesn't sound right. my hull on my frontier is 1795 and I topped out at 61 with a 200 sho. Even with the 150 Yamaha they are still getting low 50s with them. you should get more then 40 with that setup for sure.

well we've had a bunch of issues with the engine since we got it so maybe it was running poorly from the get go.

yea maybe so, you should definitely get 50 out of the new setup or close to it. my dad has a 21 kenner with 150 and he does 51. after owning a 200 on a 21 foot boat now, I will always have at least a 200. they carry loads better for sure.

report back after you do a trail run. you should get way better performance and speeds if the 140 was only giving you 38mph

That Etec should have a little better torque and hole shot than the Zuke but if I were upgrading I would have gone ahead with a bit more horsepower. Was there something wrong with the Zuke?

I have a 150 yammie on my Blue Wave with a 1700 lb dry weight hull. It does just fine. Fast cruise at 38 mph and tops around 50.

lots

bout 6 months ago was losing RPMS and speed and replaced 2 injectors. Then had to replace lower unit. Then began losing speed and RPMS again so we just said F it.

The dealer told me it would top out at 45 or so w/ the 150. So I asked about 175 and he said I would only get 1 more MPH. Does that sound right?

That's about right..the 150 to 200 isn't much difference either but handles loads better. I have the sho so it's totally different then the regular 200. Put it this way my buddies epic with 200 will only do about 50-52 empty. I have the sho and with a fishing load I can do 55 and he was shocked. I'd say your problems should be solved with the 150 e tec besides the fact it's not a yamaha lol. You should get 50 out of that boat with a 150

Try out some different props. They will greatly affect the performance.

the holeshot from that 2 stroke is going to be 2x ax much as that 4 stroke.
Y'all better be hanging onto something when you gun that etec for the first time. It's pretty amazing down low
