Surplus ammo question

My grandfather gave me about 1,000 rounds of Spanish surplus ammo for my 7mm Mauser. The date on all of it is between 1946 and 1948. It's been stored in a non climate controlled (but dry) storage building for the last 40 or so years (since he bought it).
Simple question...WYSI?

Yes, worst case you might have some hangfires

Find out if it is corrosive.
Check that: Assume it is corrosive and clean your gun accordingly after shooting.

Ammo doesn't go bad, when it has been properly stored. But if it looks messed up like bullets pushed to far into case don't shoot it. But if has dents or looks dirty clean off and shoot it.

1,000 rounds back then constitutes SERIOUS hoarding.

I've got a similar story.
My grandfather left me a Colt 45 1911 model made in 1922. It's in almost mint condition and there was 1,000 or so 45 rounds with it. I got the gun 5 years ago and still haven't shot it. The box of 45 rounds are in the bottom of my safe. This is the only 45 I own. I most likely won't shoot this one ever, but will get another one and run some of these rounds through it.

Thread hijack: Would you mind posting a few pictures of the gun?

Lighting isn't very good in this one, but it's the only one I've got in my bucket at the moment.
