Amber vs. Gray base?

Will be primarily used for everyday activities, driving, and hunting. Will be poly lenses due to hunting.

I've gone back and forth between amber, gray, and green. Leaning towards gray. I never leave the house without a pair, usually Ray Bans. These will be Costas fwiw.

What says the OB? Thanks for your input.

On Costas, green is also amber. I prefer amber.

Amber. While it may be beaten by gray for some uses, it will be better for overall uses that you have described.

Correct. And the blue mirror is gray base.

Wear the green and amber interchangeably. Green makes colors seem unreal. Amber is a little truer to what I see with the naked eye.

So I basically only fish marsh and bays, no offshore fishing, what would be the best color polarized lense for that type of fishing?

I went through this debate myself recently.

My uses are fresh water boating/fishing, and driving / everyday wear.

I went with the green mirrored and am extremely happy.

Compared to my other pairs that are "smoke" / dark grey, the Amber base lense makes the colors very vivid and clear.

I have amber perscription Oakleys, great for golf, fishing, driving. Really sharpens colors.

Get both. I actually prefer the gray (blue mirror) for everyday use. Only time I really wear my green mirror is when I'm on the boat marsh/lake fishing.

I only have the green lenses but they are great when driving in the rain. Oh, and fishing I guess.

It really doesn't matter what anyone else likes. Take a pair of each outside when you are shopping (most stores should let you do this, I know Cabela's does) and compare them yourself. When compared this way, you will probably have a personal preference.

C'mon dude. Live a little. Every hard leg on this board and in every truck next to you wears Costas.

What do you want?

The blue/greys are extra dark and best used for bright sun-shiney days and offshore fishing. Green/ambers are best for cloudy, rainy days or inshore fishing.

Personally I have both and swap based on the occasion. Glass is a much better lens than the poly. I'm not sure what hunting has to do with the choice.

Tried on several pair of Maui Jim's and didn't like how they fit. Admittedly I didn't find a pair of "Breakers" which were the ones I was looking for. The Costas just fit better.

I wear Wayfarers or Aviators daily to the office and around town. Probably just as "played out" as Costas IMO but they look good and are appropriate for my business setting. But I do see your point.

I had originally been set on glass, but I'm going on dove hunts on back to back weekends in September. I could just be talking myself into it but the poly gives me a added peace of mind in the event I get peppered.

Thanks for all your advice everyone.
