Are standard map e-cards sold anywhere in the NOLA or Northshore area? Or can you only buy them online from Standard Map?

Why? It is my understanding that navionics doesn't give you the same overlay that Standard Mapping provides.

I've had both. They're equal in quality of overlay. For standard mapping you have to buy each map (or add on after the first one). Navionics covers most of the LA coast.

Sounds like a thought if they are equal, we just paid 200$ for our area through SM. If anything is better it would have to show fish.

completely disagree. I have both and since i fish shell beach/hopedale the most, my standard maps chip stays in my unit most of the time.

Does the Navionics have the satellite overlay while you are running? I've tried finding youtube videos of the platinum +, but all I can find is that you can see a aerial picture and not an overlay. This is the main reason I didn't purchase the navionics chip last week. For the price, I can get most of Louisiana and into Florida for about $180.

I ended up purchasing the navionics platinum + card. It seemed to offer as much detail as the standard mapping e-cards for much less. I should have it for this weekend to get a real feel for its capabilities.

Take some pics of the screen for us.

I have the SM, and would like to see what the Navionics looks like.

Yes, its a full overlay. Its legit, I havent fished with a standard mapping card so not sure if it has more detail or not but all the guides I know have Navionics.

I fish dularge and would have to buy at least 3 areas in order to cover areas that I fish, standard needs to start selling cards for entire LA cost or East and West LA.

You are going to love it. When I show people my screen (Navionics P+) they are usually shocked. It's a game changer.

Tbooux talked me into getting navionics, its basically the same as google maps on your GPS. The detail is incredible.
