I'm thinking about building the table in the picture below. The issue I'm having is that all the home improvement stores carry just framing lumber. I would like to get some stain grade lumber (cedar, cypress, oak, etc.) in 2x4, 2x6, 2x8 and 4x4 all in at least 8 foot lengths. I've called a few place, but it seems all they have in ~2" thicknesses comes in random widths and I don't have a table saw to rip it to the widths I need. Does anyone know of a good source for finding decent lumber in these sizes around the Baton Rouge area?

I'd try Cajun Cypress in Baker. They have a ton but its steep.

Service Lumber has a large selection. Cajun Cypress if you are looking for cypress. Both will give quotes over the phone.

Cajun Cypress said that they had a truck load coming in, but the mill called and said they had burned down so they don't know when they'll be getting more in.

Service Lumber was one of the places that told be that if I can't rip it myself then I am SOL.

Thanks for the quick replies though.

You could always try a pre-stain conditioner on softwoods you pick up at Lowe's/HD.

But Service Lumber is the only place I go to in BR for my stuff. Great selection and they also started carrying Cypress.
