We have been hearing noises in the attic and knew an animal was up there. I placed my deer cam in the attic and confirmed it is a squirrel. I set two large victor rat traps up there baited with peanut butter on one and sunflower seeds on the other. Nothing. When I hear noises I have immediately climbed up to the attic with a machete...I see nothing every time. I have sat outside and read a book for hours and hours and I never see any squirrels to shoot. Yesterday, I got up at 6am and sat in a hiding spot in the yard facing the house and roof. I sat there for 3 hours. I saw nothing.

This squirrel is making me look like a fool.

Any suggestions?

Find the hole he going in the house through. Patch said hole with chicken wire. If he is outside, wont get back in, if inside, will die and stink up your house for a little bit. Either way, problem solved.

Well, I hear it in the walls too. I have no idea where he is getting in at. I placed the deer cam to record one exterior wall of the house. I have not recorded him yet. Had a roofer guy come out three weeks ago for a different issue. He said there were 8 different spots where a squirrel could get in that he saw. He said he would seal them up. But our home warranty is covering this and he is taking his sweet time on doing the work. I just need to kill this critter. He wakes me up in the morning. He wakes me up during nap time. I hate this squirrel. I'm sure he is chewing on wires too. Yes, a machete. My wife laughs but I want him dead. Maybe I need to break out my Jason mask too.

I have one but it is at my dad's house 7 hours away. I did not want to buy a new one. I can pick it up mid January.

I actually thought about this minus the gun. I would probably only last 30 minutes before I go back down.

Yeah, the last one I had a problem with was sitting on a stud bracing making a nest in the wall. Sealed off all of the holes in the house and made the one or two in that particular area one way exits. If you kill this one, there will always be another waiting to take his place in your attic, and will drive you doubly insane. I have battled attic squirrels for years, so I feel your pain. I quit trying to kill the ones already inside and put all my energy towards sealing off the house. Haven't had a problem with squirrels in two years now.

It's not the squirrel.

You need to enlist the help of this guy:

Put poison up there. They're just rats with fluffy tails, so I'm sure they'll go for rat poison, or mole poison, which I have successfully used on rats.

Dude, just go to home Depot and get a small live trap. Put it in your attic and bait with pecans. You'll have your squirrel, 2 days max. Post a pic of it for us.

Seal up entry point and place a Have a Heart trap in the attic.

After trapping either execute or release.
