Aight fellas I have decided on the Springfield 40 cal over the Glock. For any Springfield guys, I am having hard time deciding between the XD and XDM. XDM is obviously .5 inch bigger barrel and bigger capacity. XD 40 cal is 12+1 and XDM is 16. More rounds but slighter bigger and heavier carry. Any thoughts?

well, are you planning on carrying it regularly or just taking it to shoot at the range?

I own both an xd and an xdm. It's hard for me to pick. I don't really think you can go wrong with the xd. You just have to ask yourself is the money difference worth it to have a few more rounds a better barrel and trigger pull.

I bought the xd in 9mm over the xdm because it was over $100 cheaper. I can do without the extra couple of rounds. I have been very pleased with it so far.

I've shot both, I like the XDM because you can change the grips. I have big hands and the XD grip was too small.

Grab both, one in each hand, let the gun tell you... if you listen, she will speak to you.

Have shot both but I'll keep my XD-9 all day long, couldn't justify the extra money and can shoot my XD-9 better than my buddies can shoot their XDM-9. can't go wrong with either

I wouldn't choose either for a carry gun. As for XD vs XDm they are both good guns, but they are 2 different guns. Which do you want more?

Probably means a subcompact would be a better carry gun. That said, I carry a Glock 19 which is close in size to the XD Service with no problems.

Xdm because I have small hands and you can change the palm swells. It is an easier field strip and it looks cool as hell. Both are too big however for a concealed weapon but excellent for a primary firearm i.e. LE/MIL

because fullsize pistols do not make good carry guns.

They are heavy, bulky. Two things that don't mix well in the south when 11 months out of the year you can wear shorts and a T-shirt...

I have even downsized from a subcompact XD 9mm to a true pocket size pistol because I found myself leaving my pistol at home or in my truck more often than carring it because even the subcompact was not the easiest to carry or conceal. Now that I have a Sig P238 I carry it all the time, small compact can fit in my pocket and weights a little over a pound.

I carry a kel-tec pf9 for concealed carry. Slimmest 9mm on the market. 7+1 rounds.

I'd reconsider the glock and the 40 cal, the g19 may be the best defensive carry weapon in the world. I own both xd and glocks, and glocks are far cheaper and easier to maintain. There's a reason it's the most popular hangun in the world.

Go to any gun store and you are bound to see a couple g27s in the used case. The 40 cal in a sub is too snappy for most shooters. G26s are far less common in the used gun cases bc people hang on to them. 9mm vs 40 cal is a war that has been going on since the 40sw came out some 20 yrs ago. It's all about shot placement and most people can plain shoot 9x19 much better. Being cheaper to shoot is a added bonus.
