O-ring around senko, hook between o-ring and bait.
You can also get some sleeve/collar style o-rings to run the hook through the bait and collar. That looks like the sturdiest option IMO.
ETA: This is the catfish I caught. You can see the O-ring around the senko.
I casted down the middle of a cove and that fish smashed it as soon as it hit the water. I thought I had a double digit bass on the line. This was on Grand Bayou.

I hate those damn things i always catch them on my lines and get mad because I could have caught a better fish.

As mentioned, use an o-ring. You'll save a bunch of baits this way. I like a 2/0 gamagatsu wacky hook, that has a small weed guard (same material as a jig weed guard).

If you aren't fishing a senko wacky then you are missing out. Even in the grass it will out produce just about every time when someone else is throwing a Texas style

I tried the senkos wacky style 5 years ago at priest lake in Tennessee, and I did not catch anything
