Anyone been fishing trout at night lately? Specifically under lights out at rigs. Have seen a few articles on this in the past and have fished in the Central rig area of Breton Sound years ago under the lights but nothing lately.

Looking for any input you might have on bringing your own lights/generator. Best conditions other than calm seas? Have a few rigs and other locations in mind to set up at. Seems like it would be a nice change of scene, much cooler and no crowding from the jacka** contingent casting in your boat. Appreciate any input

Haven't made a night trip this year yet but is one of my favorite trips to make, especially july august when its so damn hot!

Not sure how effective bringing your own lights would be as I would imagine bait is attracted to the consistent lights of an oil rig that are on every night for years and years so a pattern is established.

My buddy has been catching them pretty good fishing out of Dularge at night. Not sure where he's running to.

Thanks guys, I know it can be fun to be out there at night with all the rig lights as far as you can see. The scenario I have particularly in mind is:

A certain rig or three that are of concrete base and unmanned. As far as I know, they have few, if any "big" lights that are actually fishable, though only been in daylight. Would set up the light spread in an area where the tide wraps around said rigs.......and then just hang out and see what happens. I figure we've got to have decent water clarity and ideally some tidal movement.

Interested to hear about any nighttime reports in the Breton Sound/Lake Borgne area as well.

That's the area I'm planning on. Figured I'd focus on Eloi/B. Sound rigs but open to give Lake Borgne structures a shot too. Family has camp in shell beach so can come back in late and crash

There's this:

Also, CT/Big Fish charters used to park their house boat where the MRGO rocks start near where the back levee canal comes in and catch plenty fish off the back deck under lights.

There is a rig called Mardi Gras out of Dularge. Great for night fishing.

Just saw this article so maybe deeper water in Breton Sound 16 plus feet at night might be a better option right now.

Talked to him tonight. He said they been fishing the inshore rigs in Cocodrie. Go from one location to another till you find one holding fish.

I've fished Central a couple times. It's always an issue when the fish are under the ladyfish and not being able to get your bait down(below them) without hooking up with some sort of trash fish. g'luck
