Update to add new picture of boat being towed back in...

Saw this picture come across my Facebook feed earlier tonight. Not much info. The poster simply said "That's not good".

Then a few minutes ago I came across this post from Sea Tow Westbank...

Sucks to be that boat owner....

Well that sucks! Where specifically in South Pass has the sandbar grown out into the pass.
Also, just fyi to the OB, Tiger Pass has a sand bar thats growing out in it. Towards the mouth at the last bank of rojo cane. It wasn't there last year as it was 5ft mostly. Now it's less than 2 ft in a larger portion inside marked channel. The channel markers are misleading.

It's hard to tell from the pic where he was at. There are sandbars that run into the pass at a few of the canals. You can see them on goggle maps. And down there things can change from year to year.

His transom had to be weakened for that to happen. I've never heard or seen that happen before.

I Pulled a 28-30ft twin v (with about 7 guys) off a flat in pass a loutre a month ago. Didn't think I was going to budge it with my 20ft flat boat.

I've been in boats that have hit logs on plane, and the motor just kicks up. Hasn't ever ripped off

Yeah. That is a new one. Boat must have filled up quick with that big arse hole in the transom.

Wow.

He does look to be away from the bank too.

That sandbar really hassled the Hof.

Sorry, had to get that out.

That's crazy though, he really is a good ways off from the bank.

My brother's friend hit a submerged floating log and the transom broke and the prop hit him in the head and killed him

Jesus Christ! I just got whacked it the head with the motor cover and had a few stitches. The engines flipped all of the way over?

How does that even happen? Shouldn't the motors have popped up?

How much time goes by before those get salvaged? I'd be surprised if they lasted more than 24 hours. Pretty much fair game from what I've been told about Maritime Law but I don't really know that for sure...

IIRC, they have to be reasonably abandoned for someone to come take them. But yeah, they're probably gone by now

If I had to guess I would say it is the sandbar by franks crossing. However there are another couple near center now by coast guard cut.
