Federal is running 24/7 and of the beginning of the month they were back ordered till 2015. Stuff will start to come back in but full shelves and cheaper prices is years away...

Haven't been to any stores in a few weeks. It will be strange to see boxes on the shelves again.

Can you imagine how much ammunition a modern firearm factory can pump out every hour. It is hard for me to believe that they could be that far behind.

Right now, we're seeing froth on top of the already high prices. That froth reflects the premium for "right here, right now" over "I can accept a backorder," and "I'll check all the websites and stores for a deal every day."

I scooped up some brass .223 for $0.40 at Sheels last week because I got lucky. I bought some Wolf 7.62x39 for $0.25 from AIM last week because I was on their alert list and ordered it immediately after I got the email. Panic buyers are paying double that.

The froth will begin to fade some time late Spring or early Summer. But to see Wolf 5.56 for $0.25 or .308 for $0.40 will take years, if ever.

This is for one plant in the United States 1.6 BILLION rounds per year!

So great was the demand for ammunition that the U.S. Army was temporarily forced to buy from foreign suppliers. Several years of effort and hundreds of millions of dollars of industrial investment were spent upgrading the existing infrastructure at the Lake City plant, which now is capable of producing up to 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition per year for the U.S. armed forces.

Cabela's stock seems to change up daily online, and so do other sellers. Our local Walmart is still getting shipments in, but there are usually not much on the shelves right now, at least not more than a day or so.
Not sure when that will end. Buds store had a good supply of ammo and their gun shelves looked fairly full again compared to December.
