Stacks of pallets vertically with every other one turned 90 degrees so open sides are off setting make nice deep water structure. Run a piece or two of rebar down through them and into the bottom to secure. You can off set some to create small ledges on a vertical structure. Bait fish hide them.

If I ever build a pond I want to put some of these floating vegetation islands in there.

LINK

They also have floating docks with the planted areas around them. I think it would make a sweet floating duck blind. In theory you don't have to dress it up too much since it grows all year.

I would suggest making "T"s with large concrete culverts.

I don't know if that fits into your budget, as I'm sure cement culverts get pricy.
I have a couple I'd donate.

I see them lying around pastures near where I live. Farmers tend to use that black plastic now and I bet I could round up a few more.

About to go drop daughter but will check back.

Geauxtiga...where do you live? I'm in the lake charles area. Biggest problem with cement culverts is the transport of them. I have access to the trucks and trailers and even a track-hoe but it takes time with borrowed equipment. If they are close to Lake Charles I would try to pick them up. Thats really what I would like to find is 1-2 8 foot culverts that are old. They are too expensive to buy at about $55 per foot in 8 foot pipes for 36 inch pipe.

that sentence makes no sense, so i'm gonna go ahead and assume you mean, "so you think the tOB doesn't know how to build a pond "

and no, there are probably some on here who do.. by visiting the bosses on tPB forum

and if you built your pond by the advice you received on here bud, that is ultimate affirmation that he needs to visit the tPB forum..

Absolutely, tPB is the ONLY location to become educated on basic limnology and freshwater biology.

There is no way anyone not refrencing that site will have any chance of meaningful contribution
