Been looking at some used ruger and s&w .44 magnums and came across one today. It is the smith and wesson 24-6 nickel plated 6" barrel. It is in excellent condition. Said maybe shot 50 times at most. Willing to sell it for $670. Is this a good deal or should I keep looking for a newer model at better price?

Thought the SW designation for the 44 mag was 29? That's what I have. Enlighten me please.

Are you sure that's a .44 mag and not a .44 special?

Well you guys are right as usual. Just called him and made him check again and it is the .44 special. Thanks for the heads up.

Those model 24's are still desirable guns, not easy to find. And worth the money if in decent shape.

And I think that is about what it should sell for, if it is a 98% new gun. If the OP is set on .44 magnum, though, I would look elsewhere. Should be looking for a Model 29 or 629 in a Smith and Wesson.
