I was just letting you know that I found out what it was. The guy didn't buy it though

Back to the topic though, pepp has it right on your truck. A lot of them do it. Ford, Chevy, Tacomas, don't know about Dodge, and the Tundras don't seem to have the problem. IIRC, on my old Tacoma, the carrier bearing caused it. I dropped it (b/c of body lift) and replaced it, and all was good

this

and its a cheap fix

in and out play is the bearings

eta: if it is the bearings, fix it quick they can go from bad to "OH shite there goes my wheel" fast

up and down is more than likely the ball jirnts.

Just got the call. Both half shafts must be replaced. I was told that they did not know how I was driving it, and that it's a miracle my left front wheel was still attached. $1,353.00

My 08 Z71 does the same exact thing. It sounds absolutely terrible. I talked to my mechanic about it about a year and a half a go, I can't remember what he said caused it, but he said it won't cause a problem, and that he recommends not even fixing it, because it will continue to happen.

ETA: he said that it was common for the early years of that body style.

It scares me. Worth the 13 hundo for my piece of mind. May be a different issue though. When i got new tires the last time, the guy doing the work asked me where I went off roading. I said i didn't. he said he could not understand how much front end damage I had from just normal use.

We could be talking about different problems.

Right when i got the truck, got it used in late 2011, i had the same issue, but it sounded way worse, took it back to the dealership, they said it was my steering rack, and that it needed to be replaced, so glad it was under warranty, they said the bill would have been around 1500-1600 if i remember correctly.

If you don't already have a mechanic that you trust, and you're in BR. Go to agco on coursey. He's the only mechanic I will take my truck to. He's honest, and won't frick you over.

I have that prob in my '07 FJ. Will be idling at a red light, and seems like i get tapped, but it's just the brakes slipping, i guess.

That was it. Didn't do it every time though. That truck is long gone now too.

Have they fixed it in the latest models? Be in the market next year and will consider all brands again.
