My FIL has a nice diesel Mule, but paid a lot for it. What's a decent 4x4 that won't break the bank?

They all will honestly

Our Kubota diesel 4x4 is a tank and will still cross crawfish fields

They are all pricey. best to look used and not be too strict on brand. find one that fits your needs in good shape for a decent price and jump on it.

They are the same cost as a guided whitetail deer hunt.

I have a Kubota RTV 500.Its gas powered and is built for work more than play.I got it in 2009 and have had no issues with it.Its not fast by any means but is very useful and it gets used daily.I will be using it tomorrow to haul seed and fert to the different plots around the house. It was a little over 8k when I bought it.

I think they are all pretty good right now.It depends on what you want it for. My land has rolling hills and stays fairly dry so I dont need a mud machine. The ranger seems to be the most popular these days.

I have the 900 ranger and love it. I hunt near Vicksburg and have some huge bottoms and hills that are very steep. I don't hesitate to put it up and down them. I also hunt up the road from my house in the swamp and it does really good in the mud. It also has tons of power. It'll do 60 mph and get there pretty quickly. I like it, but they do cost a pretty penny.

If you are looking to stay under $10k then

1. Polaris Ranger 570 midsize
2. Kawasaki Mule 610 XC

Ranger is a smoother ride but the Kawasaki is solid as a rock

The drive belt on a Ranger always concerned me.Im sure my fears were unfounded but I wasnt crazy about having a belt break and leaving me stranded.I hear they are reliable though.

I have an 04 ranger i bought new, we use it on the farm every day for a variety of tasks...never a minutes trouble and I don't know how we will get by when it finally wears out( if it ever does)
I also have a newer Yamaha rhino I bought a couple of years ago, I don't like driving it and it will be traded soon...very cold natured, narrow and unstable

My wifes cousin has this from Tractor Supply, seems solid for the few years he's had it.

Just buy you a 4 cyl, late 90s jeep. Cheaper, and you can drive it on the road. It will also hold it's resale value better.

Thanks, but this primarily for hunting. We have some deep narrow muddy trails to get to our blinds.

I bought a late 90s 4 cylinder Tacoma because side by sides have gotten so damn expensive.
