Scent Cover

What products y'all use to cover scent? Just spray or do y'all wash the camo in special detergent too?

re: Scent Cover
I use scent killer, laundry soap, body wash, and spray. I also have scent totes for all my clothes.

re: Scent Cover
fox piss for boots and I keep all my camo in a bag with fresh cedar limbs.

turpentine works good to for cover sent.

Mix real not imitation vanilla with water and spray on clothes and spray from stand every now and then.

Ive never had any luck with the store bought shit

^^^^THIS.

You can use all the best scent killers in the market, keep your clothes clean and stored in scentproof containers, and spray yourself throughout your hunt (I do it ALL), but if those deer are downwind, you WILL NOT fool their nose. It may help you, but if you're hunting these high-pressured deer in the South, you're gonna get busted. You gotta PLAY THE WIND.

I will say that I believe this is absolutely true of mature bucks and does even. Younger deer seem to be less cautious and can be fooled but it isn't worth blowing a good stand by hunting it in the wrong wind.

In alot of the areas I hunt, the does are worse than the mature bucks, haha.

doe's seem to always bust me,instead of the bucks.

my prob here in ne fl is not having any wind this time of yr.
so my scent settles around the stand.
I try to only hunt if theres a 5mph or more wind

Wash with non scented detergent and dry with the autumn dryer sheets. Also always have some tinks 69 and spray on boots and will spray every now and then in the stand.

re: Scent Cover
I have a few \large contractor bags that I've used for years to de-scent my hunting clothes. (no longer has the "plastic" smell)

When leaving the area I hunt, I collect some pine needles, a couple of bush limbs, or whatever natural item is laying around and put them in the bag.

At home, I wash my clothes in baking soda. Dry, fold, then put the clothes in the bag with the materials from the forest floor. Boots get a huge baking soda treatment and kept in a bag until needed. When I go out to hunt, I get out of the truck THEN change into my hunting clothes from the bag.

Also, I avoid eating spices large portions of meat, or anything that will make me fart for a couple days before hunting. Brush my teeth with baking soda.

Just before heading out, I tie a tampon on the bottom lace of my boot that has either a little Doe-in-Heat Lure or Skunk Scent (depending upon time of year).

I don't have problems with deer winding me regardless of the wind direction, I"m usually hunting at ranges under 75 yards.
