How is it...shot it much...is it hard to keep that anti blow back area clean and cycling properly?

I don't but I am interested in the answers. I love my 17HMR rifle. A semi auto version might be nice.

I have always wanted a .17 but never pulled the trigger...but always thought a semi auto would be fun like my ruger 10/22. I see they have a 22mag as well now.

Good luck finding 22 mag ammo. I would get the 17 just because of the ammo availability. I almost bought one but, I decided to hold off until they come out with a threaded barrel version. I have heard they are pretty reliable and accurate.

I went with a 17HMR because of 22mag availability. Glad I did now. Straight out of the box Marlin XT17 and I shoot sub MOA @ 100 yards. And I'm a terrible shot too, just don't have the patience to shoot off a bench trying to make small groups. That being said I've shot a 5 shot group just a hair bigger than 1/2" @ 100 yards with my Marlin off a sand bag. Damn thing pretty much blows up a squirrel though.

I have a 93R17BTVSS that is SUPER accurate! On a calm day you can shoot 5 shot groups in a 1/2" circle at 100 yds. I use Hornady 17gr vmax ammo.

Yea after posting I started looking at ammo and figured id stick with the 17

Was wondering about a threaded barrel for a can as well. Can you have them threaded after the fact...any disadvantage to that?

Yeah you can get it threaded as long as the barrel is thick enough.

Hope it shoots well. I did some reading today and it seemed some had mag and trigger issues. Might not be so any more. And this stock is a 2016 model (came out in 15) so I'm hoping and changes were implemented. And for the record the stock is a Boyd's according to the chick I talked to at savage.

Never seen one with a laminate stock on it. Only ones I've seen in the store are with the polymer stock. That rifle looks great!

Yea same here. I had read that the synthetic stock was kinda flimsy so I figured id get a different stock for it. Then saw that they sell them from savage like that with the boyds stock. So I rolled with this...394.34+tax bro n law deal

Dang that's a great deal. That would be the price of the polymer stock.

Yep I think I could have got that one for like 345. I called around to the local places here to see what they had and got a range on the poly stock from 380-499. I like how it came with A17 engraved into the side.

Have a question. Is there any difference in ammo the A-17 shoots vs regular 17 hmr?

I've seen bunches of the A-17 box ammo.

It's HMR ammo. Savage and CCI worked together to make that a17 ammo to shoot slightly better than other standard 17hmr ammo out of the a17. Does it...maybe, maybe not...it was cheaper than the box next to it tho so I grabbed a 200rnd box of it. You can shoot it out of any .17 hmr rifle as far as I know it's supposed to just have a few more fps
