Siap, saw the shield on PSA and ordered one this am. Also got a buddy of mine who's never bought a gun to get one and am starting to work with him on firearm safety and being a gun owner.

For those of you who have one how do you like it? I've read great things on here. I'm a glock guy and carry a 42 or 19 depending on how I dress but like the idea of a smaller 9mm with higher capacity than a 43. I figured at that price it was worth a shot in the dark?

Am I missing something? The price is $319 on PSA

I guess you meant, after rebate

It's a larger pistol with the same capacity as the 43 with TTI baseplates installed. FWIW the trigger in the glock is 100x better and the glock fits my hand better and seeks to balance better.

I have it and absolutely love it. I do have an apex trigger in mine which is great and much better than the glock.

As to size, the Glock is longer and wider, the Shield is taller

ETA: with the Mag extensions on the Glock, they're probably real close to the same size.

The Glock is $400+
The Shield with the Apex and rebate is $325

Without the Apex upgrade, it's a worse trigger than a Glock. Consider that in your costs. Apex will run you $130-150, plus install, if you don't do it yourself. Then if you get suckered into night sights like many OBers, it costs even more.

FYI There's also a $300 45 shield at PSA (less the $75 rebate).

I disagree. The Glock has a mushy takeup and break, but a better reset. The shield's trigger stages much better and has a very nice break. The reset is not good though

I've never shot the 9 but everyone says the 45's trigger is an improvement. My 45 is surprisingly mild with it's recoil.

Shot mine for the first time at range today. It was pretty accurate. Trigger could be a little better but it was a good gun.

Is the apex trigger easy to install? Or is a gunsmith recommended

I love my Shield. And I don't see what people's problem is with the trigger. I suppose after dealing with the trigger on my Ruger, anything is a dream.

My main gripe with the shield trigger is I must hold the trigger up higher because as I pull the trigger catches a slight amount on the trigger safety because I have not moved lower half of the trigger enough. As I pull harder it pulls the lower half enough and it breaks free.

The rear sight must be removed and it is kinda difficult. You need a vice or a sight pusher and it takes quite a bit of force to get it off.

Everything else is a breeze

I just bought the 45. Will be 225 after mail in rebate not counting shipping. Got it for 299 plus $17 for shipping.
