I have the Chaco Z1's and like them.

I have a pair of Vibram's that are clutch on the boat and in water.

Chaco Z1s for the past 6-7 years. Nothing better, plus your zorro foot tan is the envy of all the chicks.

The Columbia Drainmaker seems like a very versatile water shoe.

I wear my Chaco Z/1 Marine or VFF Sprints on the water though

I also highly endorse the Vibram five fingers. Would not wear anything else.

thanks for the responses guys....
looks like Chaco Z-1 is the overall favorite.
I do however like the Toe protection that the Keen offers.
I'll be heading to Massey's today to try on a few pair.

I just dumped my Chacos because they are simply terrible footwear. Where do I begin? The soles are heavy and not anatomically correct. Too short for the stated size-your toes will over lap like Mung's do and you may lose a toenail on rocks like I did. Too little support from the straps. Your feet will swell and begin to hurt. Worst product I've used in the last 5 years.
The best shoe for this?
Teva Omnium

Sounds like you just bought a pair that was too small. My toes do not overlap.
The straps offer great support.
And yeah, the soles do seem heavy at first, but the soles will never wear out. They will last forever. I do not notice them being heavy anymore either.
I love my Chacos. Greatest sandal known to man.

I've only ever used an old pair of sneakers or barefoot. Make the mistake of crocs one time.
