I'm going on a guided elk hunt in early November, I've never been, and need some info on gear to bring. A pack, boots, gloves, etc. Which brands to look at and stay away from. Thanks

I bought danner boots and couldnt be happier with them. Had some guys up there with keltrek that were 3x the cost and their feet were killing them. Not sure if they broke them in propoerly though, I walked 2 miles a day for 1 month before my trip to ensure I didnt have any problems.
I did notice that the majority of the guides were wearing schnee's which are made in bozeman, MT near where we hunted. they swear by them and coming from a guy who walks 6-7 miles in the mountains every day thats worth something. https://www.schnees.com/
ETA: Baselayers are your friend, I bould lever 3 and 4 under armor as well as some murino wool base layers and layered up with the normal clothes I have for hunting and I was fine. depending on the hunting your doing you may be moving around alot which affects how much clothes you need. Good luck

I second the danner recommendation, I've logged several hundred miles on my pair. If you can afford it I'd get 2 pairs and alternate them each day. If you have power where your staying a boot dryer will do the trick at night
Also I use a badlands superday for my day pack

The biggest favor you can do yourself is get in shape. I'm not talking about 20 minutes on the elliptical every other day.
You'll enjoy your hunt so much more if you do.
I'm also on the Danner bandwagon.

This.
What elevation are you hunting at? The altitude sickness can effect you due to the lack of oxygen. In the past we have had guys who have brought these along to supplement oxygen until they became acclimated.

If you stop along the way as you climb in altitude you should be fine.

Will you be on horseback or walking?

Get an altitude mask and work out with it too
