XT2 seems to be the way to go now. EFI with greasable spindles. Don't see how you can beat that.

Reading some of the reviews on the new rear engine Snapper and it doesn't look good. It seems that the new ones have a lot of problems. Back to research some more.

The new ones suck dick. The SPX lawn tractors are still awesome. I bought one yesterday for $1800

I owned a rear riding craftsman for about 5 years with no issues. I think I paid around $1299 at Sears. I sold it for around $500. I'd really consider getting a zero turn. I think you'll like it more than a tractor. 42 or 48 inch would suit your needs.

From my experience running non-ethanol fuel and starting them 1 time a month through the winter will keep them out of the shop almost completely. This goes for small engine weedeaters also. I have an older zero turn now and I really enjoy mowing with it. My wife even mows a lot now.

Get the little snapper. It's what Honda is to the ATV market.

I finally wore mine out 3 weeks ago. It was an 02' model my uncle gave me 6 years ago when I bought my house. He got the new snapper as a replacement.

ETA by wore out I mean the carb literally deteriorated from the inside out due to the ethanol gas and the 9 hp motor was on its last leg. Simply wasnt worth the coin to fix her this time. She started on the second pull every time till her last day.

A little heads up, you can get a lowes 10% off coupon on Ebay for $5 or less. HD will honor it. That will save you $200 on a $2k mower. Just make sure it has a unique barcode and isn't a printable.
