I know there is an AR thread with 1000 pages on this...

but i would like some insight on these .308 ARs

Thoughts on these:

Sig 716 Patrol

S&W M&P 10

DMPS GII Recon

Remington R25

It's a niche market, for sure, the whole AR10/LR308 set is less popular because of cost, primarily. I'm also looking at a .308 in the next 18 to 24 months. I haven't ruled out an AR-10 or M1A at this point, but of your selection, I would lean Sig or M&P 10. H&K makes some fantastic products in this caliber, but they are typically priced "well" upmarket.

Don't overlook the Armalite AR 10's. The AR10A or DEF10 series are extremely well made rifles for the money

Best value and accuracy potential from what I've read and seen.

I have a Sig 716...I wasnt in the market nor looking but I won it at a skeet shoot and love it.

It does/did have a feeding problem with the first flew clips. I didnt pre clean it and I think they had a knack for shipping with a lot of thick grease that would make it hang up with certain ammo. Some people had it worse than others and had to send them to sig for a little work. But for the most part gtg and maybe the issues were early on. So far about 120 rounds through it...and the last 60 went very smoothly...it kicks pretty good.

You can change the muzzle device or get a limb saver recoil pad for it.

If I were in the market for a budget 308 AR, I would take a hard look at the Armalite DEF-10.

typing fast

I will look at different things one day...I dont have much range time on it and was just trying to get it running reliably before I go changing things.

For the cost of getting a good supply of Armalite magazines to outfit an AR10 I would be half way to the cost of a PTR91 and 10-20 mags.

If you got OB baller status you should skip those and get a Nemo executive order. So sexy.

Go ahead and rule out the DMPS and the Remington.

Decide whether you want DI or gas piston, then use that to choose between the Smith and the Sig

M&P10 gets my vote
