I had a customer in the shop today who is retired AF. We were talking guns, and the issue of ammo shortage came up. I said it was due to people buying all they could find, which I'm guilty of. He said it was a govt. conspiracy. He cited the government's procurement of large quantities of ammo. He then said something I've never heard. He said: " You know that's what they're doing because they're buying up hollow points, and the Geneva Convention outlawed hollow points in war."
I'm not one to believe just anything so I investigated. There were numerous sites contradicting what he said.
Long story short, I landed on this: LINK, and found it to be interesting info on the evolution of US military ammo. It's an interesting read.

Do you think the same guy that will fire on his own citizens, will think twice about what the round being fired is?

Assuming this were true, I don't understand what it means/would mean.

I was just repeating what he said. The Hague/Geneva portion is covered in the article.

About 1/2 of what Dean Speir writes is credible.

At least 1/2 of what he writes is distorted, embellished, self-serving bs.

He slightly misinterprets the JAG memo. Hollow point ammunition would be acceptable for use in anti terror operations, because terrorists are criminals and are not deemed to be enemy combatants for purposes of The Hague and Geneva conventions.
