So I commented on an old thread about this but I figured I'd start a new one and see what happens.

I have a Remington Nylon 66 and the stock is broken completely off at the safety. In good shape otherwise. I can't see spending what they want for a new stock so I'm contemplating making a wooden one from Walnut or something. The gun has no sentimental value to me. Any suggestions on what to do with it?

I've also seen in several forums that Remington will exchange it + $75 for a different model .22 but I've emailed them and they have yet to answer. Anyone know if that is true?

Thanks for any feedback I get on this. I have several other.22s and I don't even know if I'm going to keep it.

unless you are a master wood crafter, anything that you make yourself will look comical as hell.

check gunboards message board, ask there, Ask at Numrich arms, Brownell's Supply, Bob's Gun Parts, leave messages on forums like Shooter's, CSP forums, thehighroad.org, thefiringline.com Somebody can help you get an orignal stock, or repair your broken one, I'd try to do the latter, and I'd use Brownell's acraglass bedding compound, with some fiberglass dowels bridging the break, for added strength. Acraglass is some MEAN epoxy, bro. It chemically heats itself, and once about 20 minutes is past, it sets up and your working with it is DONE, believe it. Like night and day.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I have the Mohawk Model 10C and it is brown. I often wondered what to do if the stock did crack. I would try a repair and the one suggested earlier in this thread seems doable IMHO.

So I decided I don't really need the rifle so I was thinking of trying to trade for a .22 pistol. A friend of mine offered to buy it off me but I'd rather try and trade.

I got a replacement stock off ebay a couple years back. My old stock isn't cracked but it's not in the best condition and that's the reason I replaced it.

If you might be interested I can get you some pictures to email to you. I'd be willing to sell it.

Hit me up if you're interested: CDANIEL985@GMAIL.COM

Remember, the stock on these guns aren't just a chunk of plastic that hold the barrel and receiver. The receiver is built into the stock. So your idea of maybe trying to make one out of wood won't be an easy undertaking without some serious skills. Just swapping all the parts from one stock to another takes a ton of patience, skill and tiny little fingers, none of which I have a lot of!

Here's mine from when I swapped the stock (my receiver cover and barrel need to be refinished, I know):

Ha! Just looked at your post history and saw that the "old post" that you mentioned you replied to in your original post was actually my original post about my restoration of my Nylon from 2 years ago.

Just read this post. If you're not looking to fix yours, email me please. I'd be very interested in getting it from you if you want to sell. I have 2 boys that I'd like to give each their own 66 as their first guns.

Thanks.

I hope your boys will enjoy their "matching" guns! You should post pics of them both when they receive them! Good meeting you today!

Thanks everyone for the replies. In the end I think the gun found it's way to the right place, in the hands of the OP on the previous Nylon 66 build.

Thank you very much. I'm going to take my time getting them done right but once I get them done they'll be posted here, don't you worry.

Special thanks for being a stand up fella and not keeping that extra $20 I gave you. I honestly wouldn't have known. I thought I had the exact amount in my wallet that I was giving you. LOL
