ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) -There are now five states that are actively trying to lure Ilion gun-maker Remington Arms to their communities.

The southern and western states, including South Carolina and Arizona, boast more business-friendly environments and firearm-friendly laws.

Economic development leaders in Herkimer County are reaching out to Remington officials to ask what it will take for the company to shun these aggressive pursuits and remain in Ilion.

"We're asking to say, 'listen, can we come in? Can we bring in our economic team? Can we bring in some officials who we know are going to be behind you, supporting what you need?' and at this point even all that's on hold," says Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency Executive Director Mark Feane.

That absence of dialogue is unsettling for Feane.

Get the classic brand out of that communistic state!

Bring them to good ole LA!

Or hell, anywhere in the south.

EDIT: There are also a few other arms makers in the north that could come down. My 1911 was made in Maine and I know Springfield is in Connecticut.

Whatever state Blackhawk is based in is trying to lure a bunch of the weapons manufacturers also. I remember reading last summer about Blackhawk buying a shite ton of land to help out with some of those moves if they happened.

Good for them. I really hope Bama comes to their senses and puts together an economic package for gun and ammo manufacturers that would help entice them to bring their businesses to Alabama.

That classic brand has been outsourcing shotguns from Russia(Baikal) for years and outsourcing other parts from companies allegedly doing business in Mexico and China. I don't think Remington feels any obligation to the USA...

While that may be true this is a prime opportunity for them to get an incredibly sweet deal to relo to another state. This could come in the form of tax breaks, discounts on utilities, state-matched funds to build new factories/production lines, etc.

Reading that article, it explains that the small community relies on the factory for jobs.

Still, I say frick that state. Bring the factory here.

Gun and ammo discounts for instate residents.
