That's a very good deal for one that's never been shot.

You'll get told a whole bunch here that it's worthless junk, but it isn't. That's a good deal.

I have the same gun chambered in 308 passed down from my grandfather. Had to thoroughly clean it when I got it but since then it always goes bang with a pull of the trigger. I have killed lots of deer with it.

Great gun and that seems like a good price for an unfired model.

The OE stocks and forends go for over $100 used alone.

The ole woodsmaster. Very good deal but make sure you keep it squeaky clean.

I have a hand-me-down. While the mechanics seem archaic it still fires like a mule and kills deer.
A gunsmith who examined it and cleaned it good before I started using it said to make sure to use good ammo to keep it from giving you the supposed problems.

Upload a pic, would love to see it.

Checkered fancy stocks or the serrated foreend?

That's dann good price.

My first rifle was a 7400. (my dad thinks bolt actions are dumb and semis are the only answer, he shoots a BAR now)

Its good for 1.5-2" groups and has never jammed, unless the mag is filled to the max. Killed a many a deer, just don't expect it to be a tackdriver.

I had this exact gun, sold it used for $375 about 25 years ago.

My dad has one. No ones hunted with it since the 80's, but I did do some shooting with it a couple times. I didn't get it to shoot very well at all. When loading, let the bolt slam shut. Don't ease it closed. I think they are cool rifles, but I can't see myself hunting with one for some reason.

Same situation exactly, just sits in a case.

I have one, too. The rifle stopped grouping for us, too. There's a nut that attaches the barrel to the receiver that had come loose. Took a 1" (I think) end wrench and tightened it up and she's again a shooter.

Have heard of this but never experimented with it. Back when my only rifle was a 6.5 swede, I got tired of searching for swede bullets. Put a scope on the ole Woodsmaster and bought a couple different boxes of bullets. I wasn't happy with the results so I never hunted with it and bought a model 700 7 mag. Looking back, the scope I put on the autoloader wasn't the best, and I probably didn't try a large enough variety of bullets.
Lots of people say they went to shoot at deer and they just click on them. I've been told just let the bolt slam shut on its own when loading and it won't misfire.

My cousin had a 742 in 280 that shot quite well.

Got an unlce that had a .280 that shot well, too. My rifle was my dad's, .30-06 has pitted bore, was not treated the best, but is still a good shooting rifle. I racked it after hunting with it in the rain - had to tear it all the way down to dry and clean. AS far as the bolt closing, I push it forward to help ensure it's fully locked. That small op handle is difficult to grab esp. with a gloved hand.

Buddy has one in .308 (BDL grade -- probably 35 years old). He's never tried to sell it because it really isn't worth anything.

His has never shot good groups. It meets the proverbial "minute of deer" accuracy test. But it's a POS compared to the accuracy of rifles being made today.
