registration of handguns?

my dad recently died and has about 5 different handguns, a rifle, and a shotgun. What do i need to do to transfer them to my name? thanks and La. if it matters

Sorry to hear about your dad. There is no registration process that you need to go through. Just assume ownership and take them to your residence.

Nothing needs to be done. They are not like cars. Only initial purchases from a dealer, gun shop, online auction/store, need be registered.
My dad is gone too and I feel you.

There is no registration, they just run a check to make sure you can own a gun, there is no database besides the paper file at the FFL where the gun was bought...

Sorry to hear about your dad. But yeah like everyone else has said there is nothing that has to be done in LA to transfer a gun to another individual. The original owner fills out the paper work but after that friend to friend sales or inheriting from a relative is perfectly fine. Hell most of the guns in my collection were given to me over the years. I am always surprised that this question comes up so much.
