Never been before. Where is the best place to go? What time of year. What kind of gear do you need? I have a ton of bass fishing gear and my own boats just have no idea where to begin when it comes to Redfishing.

A state where you want to fish would be a good question to ask as well

I like purple minnow with white tail. Red jig head with a gold spinner. You can catch damn near anywhere off of hwy 1 once you get past golden meadow.

No hijack, but speaking of fishing, Academy just updated their clearance site online. Don't freshwater myself, but they have lots of lures for it.
I like to fish reds with a moving tide, falling is best for me.

Get in the ponds, stand on a ladder to spot reds, cast to them and hold on.

Get about 5 or 6 gold spoons and a few silver ones as well. The worst thing while fishing for reds is losing your last gold spoon while they are wearing it out.

If you can bass fish, then you should be ok. I would run to Delacroix and fish shorelines that have moving water just like you would fish for bass.

Buras. Go to a place called Bay Jacques and just fish market shrimp along the shorlines or what is left of them.

Be prepared for a ton of fun. Lake Borgne has a couple in there. Only place I've gone.
