Red Maple Leafs Turning Black

I planted two small red maples last fall and everything has been going well until the last month. Recently the leaves started turning black on the ends and I don't know why.

I am not very familiar with diseases that attack trees, but it sounds you may be dealing with some kind of fungus....just google up your subject line and you will get a good bit of literature.
