So I just saw an article about open carry in Texas and it reminded me that I saw a guy open carrying in academy last week, and I got to wondering how many people do/will actually open carry. I think this was the first non-Leo I've seen do it.

I don't do it in public. I do it when I am riding my property.

I always have one in the woods, and by my side in my truck.

While I totally support open carry I guess I just can't see myself walking into a grocery store or gas station packing openly. Although if it was more common place I totally would, too many people just get freaked out about it

People who open carry do more harm than good to the gun control debate.

I worked the gun counter at Cabela's when I was in law school. Every person who came in open carrying was fat. Every single one,no exception. They almost always wore those old "Big Johnson" tee shirts too.

What gets me is the lack of awareness that I usually sense from people I see open carrying, at least compared to LEO's. To me it just seems like an advertisement for a free gun for someone determined and able to take it.

I did once at a Mardi Gras parade in Monroe. I need my concealed carry permit, but I've procrastinated. Anyway, I'm convinced that is the only reason I didn't get jumped. I had a group of thugs walk up mouthing off, until they saw my 1911. They moved along, but I was pretty nervous about the entire situation. Before the parade even started, I loaded up my family and left. I had no idea the place would be like that.

I don't agree - people who open carry long guns do. I usually conceal OWB but in the warmer weather I don't always wear a long shirt .

Only in the woods. But I have forgotten it on my hip and stopped in a gas station. Didn't really notice a reaction from anyone.

Saw a guy open carrying in Lowe's in Opelousas about a year and a half ago or so. Had a revolver, probably .357, on his hip.

Big muther, too. I don't think I would have tried wrestling his pistol away from him.

The only time I open carry is in my vehicle on trips, in states that allow open carry. (Don't have concealed carry permit)

Saw a douche OCing a m&p in Walmart while holding his newborn on his shoulder. I guess he would have to throw the kid somewhere if the shite hit the fan.

Don't really care if you call bullshite. I have never open carried prior to that, and honestly have never felt as nervous as I did there. Not in New Orleans, or even San Pedro Sula, which I know is dangerous. I just found myself in the wrong area.
