Been seeing an oldsquaw or long tailed duck on the same area of the river for the past week. Have done a lot of rice field hunting in central Louisiana and have never seen one of these before. Are they commonly seen in the coastal zone of Louisiana?

I could see where you could get your limit of deer and cinnamon teal there, only Jimmy Houston could get a limit of white perch, probably on a roadrunner, in that dead sea

They had a mandarin duck in the Green Leaves subdivision in Mandeville a few years back.

One year I'm going to go out to California, shoot one and mount it. Beautiful duck.

BIL shot an albino pintail. He didn't know what it was and gave it to a taxidermist that was at the boat ramp.

Another group staying at the lodge with us in Kansas brought this back from a field hunt. Atlantic Brant Goose. Pretty rare to see in the Midwest.

Occurrences chart

This chart is specific for northwest Louisiana but it shows that the Long-tailed Duck (Oldsquaw) is pretty rare.
