I have a Johnson 35 outboard motor. When I am running it at half or full throttle the motor feels like it jerks can anyone tell me what is causing it to do that. I replaced the old fuel line and head gasket. While idling it runs like a charm. Thanks for the help

Sounds like something could be stripped or worn out to me. Is the prop beat up bad? Take it off and see if the splines are boogered up.

Could also be a misfire. Could be lotsa stuff.

The prop is not in the best shape. I looked at the splines and it looked ok. I have another prop that is a three blade I was gonna put on. The one on It now is a four blade. Will that make a difference ? Going from 3 blade to a 4 blade.

Shouldnt see a big difference in the 3 and 4 blade on a 35 hp. 4 blade will have better hole shot and more stable drivin WOT on bigger rigs, but prob not enough for you to tell unless the pitch is off.

If the 3 blade is less dicked up than the 4 blade than it probably will. A prop that is beat up could be out of balance which would make it do weird stuff when you run it fast.

Does it jump when you rev it up in neutral or only when it's in gear?

Check coils and replace spark plug wires. Works every time

Except when it doesn't.

It only does it when I am running half or full throttle. I have cranked it up in neutral. It only seems to do it when I have a load on it.

Then Down shift is right, start at the prop.

This may sound crazy but under WOT I have seen boats jump outta gear. My FIL party barge does this from time to time.
