I'm looking to buy a hand gun revolver or pistol mainly for bow season to carry rat shot for snakes. I was thinking about a .22 6 shot revolver, but I hear it's still a bit hard to find ammo. Any suggestions of another gun that's readily available and ammo is easy to find/inexpensive? Not looking for a huge gun, something smaller and under 350 bucks.

Is 9mm ammo easy to find and cheap?

For your stated purpose a .22 is perfect, allows you to use rat shot for snakes or round nose for plinking. It would not be the most appropriate to take a 9mm bow hunting to shoot snakes

.22 ammo is not near as hard to find as it used to be and should continue to become easier to acquire

WLF says you can only carry a .22 with rat shot during bow season.

Heritage Rough Rider .22LR/WMR - you can get from academy for under $200. .22WMR in rat shot is a snake killing machine.

That's what I'm probably going to get. Was just seeing if there were any other options, but it looks like I'm going to go with the heritage .22

I think it sucks that you can't carry anything bigger than a .22 with rat shot. That stuff doesn't go very far and isn't very powerful.

A .357 shot shell is much better.

If I remember correctly, there's a loophole that you can carry larger caliber if you have a concealed carry permit.

Correct

Now I just need to decide - conceal an AK pistol or a .500 S&W
Should eliminate any snake problems...

Buy a lightly used Ruger Single Six .22 LR and you will probably also get the .22 Mag cylinder which opens up all sorts of options.

As others have recommended, check out the Heritage Rough Rider.

You can find 22LR ammo with ease online, and even when 22LR was at its most scarce, you could find rat shot.

Sounds like your decision is made.

Something like this would be much higher quality though:
