I know everyone has the game on the brain but I have a question in regards to scopes.

I purchased a new Nikon Monarch 3-12 42 last year for my Tikka T3. The sight in was easy, shoots
really great groups and was really pleased with the scope at the range.

Hunting has been a different story. I find the scope really struggles in low light situations, "glares out or blacks out"
very easily and my field of view at 12 zoom is not very good.

I read a lot of great reviews about the scope and am very disappointed and wondering if I got a bad scope?!

With all that said (i know it's a lot to read), what do you guys know of Meopta Meostar line scopes.
(Meopta used to make the glass for Zeiss)
I would like to stay in the range of $500 to $750 for a new scope...

Thanks in advance

I have that scope on my Model 70. Any scope in low light will perform poorly at full magnification

That range will get you a Leupold to your liking.

I have to dial it all the way back to 3 and I'm still having the same issue.

I had a cheap Bushnell I could keep at 6 power when I'm having to dial this one back to 3 in the same light..

Could it just the bell, I've always used 50's and this is a 42?

I agree with this. Dial the zoom down and you will see a difference.

I am struggling with buying a Zeiss scope.

I may just get a Zeiss Conquest and be done with it.

I have read a lot of reviews about the Meopta's and it seems they are comparable to Zeiss.

Just get a vx3 with 50mm objective. a 10x should be around 550-600

I have a pair of Zeiss blinoculars. I love em, but they are comparable to leupolds that are 40% cheaper.

I've even gotten into getting my rifle with my Leupold on my rifle up before my Bushnell binos when it's dark light

I will take the Nikon and put it on my son's rifle that I will get him this year.

I have a couple of months to make up my mind on a scope.

That is my favorite at this time

Shot an employee's new X-bolt .300 short mag last week at just about dusk. He had a Swarovski 2-12 on it. I don't remember the exact model (first experience with a Swarovski) but I was impressed by it but only shot 2 3 rd groups with it.

My BIL has one with the red dot illumination for "night" shooting..

The scope is bad arse!

It's a $1800 scope.

My dad has one of these on his 7mm Mag. He custom made the stock fit to a lefty shooter. I'm right handed, my brother is a left handed shooter.

I would die to get that rifle.

Meopta meostar is a great scope. I traded my VX-3 for a new one because it was perfect for my area. Make sure you get a scope with a 30mm tube not a 1" tube that's the key. You will be very happy with the 3x12x56 for $650-$900

Swarovski 3-12x56 Diavari V with 30 mm tube will get you plenty of light and width at full power in twilight conditions. Spend the bucks. It will last a lifetime.

I have been debating with myself about getting one of these. What did you think of the rifle?

I was suitably impressed.

I have an A bolt in .308 and I can tell quite an improvement in the bolt throw and the rifle seemed to fit a little better than my A bolt.

Beautiful rifle that I could find nothing not to like about.
