Here a while back there where a few posters looking for quail. My hens are laying double time & I don't believe they will slack up with the cold coming. The problems those posters where having was no one wanted to supply birds in small 10-20 batches. From incubation to adult birds takes around 9 weeks. I'm located in Pointe Couppe Parish. I'm just trying help OBers. We won't ship. If y'all feel this is a solicitation, then I'll remove it.

9 weeks from egg to fully feathered bird & I'd say another month to get a full breast. My wife keeps their feed trough full. My current laying hens are in thier prime & I'm nothing looking to rotate in new birds for about 9 months.

With all that being said, 3 months for good eating.

Just got rid of all my courtonix, going with Bob white next.
Last batch of bad weather knocked out almost half my flock.

Man that sucks. I've got bobs, pharaohs, & goldens going right now. Only 3 eggs so far with the bobs. They are just getting started though. The bobs eat & drink less. Really cool birds. We just got into chickens. Just killed 6 rosters & have 8 laying hens that should start laying late Jan early feb. I've got my birds under a 22 by 30 ft shed & haven't lost any birds. Knock on wood.

After they are fully feathered, I would move the retrieving quail to my 10 by 10 pen. Which is not the perfect set up, but that's what I'm working with.

We went on a hunt in the MS Delta yesterday... It was my dad's Xmas gift to me and my brothers... Killed ~2 dozen... Had 2 Brittanys and an English Setter working the birds... It was ridiculously hot.

My wife's grandfather won the 2000 world championship with A English Pointer. I love to watch a good dog work anything. From hogs to birds. & what a great gift. Then you get to eat it.

I don't want to ruffle any feathers (no pun intended) for advertising but my cousin took us out hunting... It's my third trip with him... The birds fly really well to be pen raised... He posted 2 videos from our hunt yesterday... Check em out at his website.

Not at all. I raise quail on a small level & am only offering to try to help fellow OBers. My wife pickes & sales the eggs. She does pretty well with the time she puts into it.

She also grows all of her own peppers

preggo cant take care of the chickens anymore, so we got rid of all of them. 4 ostrolops, 4 americauna and 4 buffs.
im going to get pharaohs next, we finally had a few good hatches and then the weather just got too bad, they were under an 8x10 covered metal awning and 2 sides enclosed.

pickled eggs in mustard is the shite.

Was it storms or the cold that got them? We have heat lamps on a timer if it gets below 55-50 degrees. With the short days the heat lamps really seem to help with egg production. Too much light makes them aggressive though.

& congraduations on the preggo

I can't wait for the 9 months my Ol lady can't help with the birds.

If you give me a heads up about 2 months out, I'll have your birds just getting ready to start laying. A lot of the time people will sale you birds that are past their laying prime. People think they are doing something wrong getting started. Nope, just old birds.
