I think the brake parts cleaner is for before your body has had a chance to react.

agreed...the irritant in poison ivy is an oil, so any solvent or soap should be able to remove it before it does any damage...

How does the cortisone help? I've had poison ivy many times (including once when it covered my face and shut my left eye), but never had a cortisone shot.

It was probably a steroid shot. That is what I have to get if I get a bad case of poison oak/ivey

Edit: wife just told me cortisone is a steroid. I didn't know that.

I bet sea foam would fix it. Sea foam fixes everything.

The cortisone dries everything up immediately. My elbow leaked goo all day long and was dried up 2 hours after the shot. My nuts are pretty happy too now.

When I was younger I would get poison ivy pretty often and a little Clorox poured in the bath water always took care of it. I can rub up on poison ivy now and it doesn't do anything to me anymore which is probably the best thing ever.

I used to never get it. I could roll in it naked and be fine.

Since this desk job has turned me into a fat candy arse though I'm sure it would almost kill me now.

Heard zanafel was the tits when it came to poison oak. Theres also a bottle of green soap that you can wash off with after you go out that helps A TON. Cant take steroid shots anymore bc of the ol blood pressure wants to act up. And like the OP said, I will straight up piss myself before I handle my junk in the woods again. My sack looked like it should be hanging from a F-250s back bumper
