Thanks to some arsehole at TB who decided to dump his old braid in the water, my lower unit was ruined. Apparently, a seal can be damaged by this allowing lubricant to leak. But, like a good neighbor, State Farm was there.

Twice this month my kids managed to wrap their line around the prop.

Happened to us offshore one time. If you throw braid or any fishing line in the water...

It took real courage to post this. Glad to see insurance taking care of it...

You will one day. Lost mine in '09, instantly. Had to tell them I hit a submerged object, and already had so many nicks on my lower unit insurance paid for a new one.

New to me. I think they do some kind of rebuilt deal. No way they pay for brand new on a 2006 outboard.

Can't say that I've ever done this. I would set the hook like a MF'er.

Saw this happen to an old man a couple of weeks ago. He's fishing crappie from a party barge straight down and right next to TM. Dude was really excited

I think the modern braids are going to be a bigger problem than mono. Smaller diameter and tougher. I took some out of my prop that looked like a hair ball you get out of your tub drain.
