Process of buying from Brookhaven Honda

I'm looking to get my son a little Honda crf110 dirt bike. I called Brookhaven and they want $1847 out the door. The Baton Rouge dealers want $2099 plus tax. That's a nice difference for the same bike. Brookhaven said I'd be responsible for the taxes in LA. What will happen if I never go to the dmv and pay the taxes? Would I just not get a title for the bike and that's it? Worse case I'd have to just give a bill of sale when I resell it, or will someone come knocking on my door?

Brookhaven Honda reports it to the State of LA at some point. The dept of Revenue will send you a bill for the taxes plus penalty and interest. Its pay them now or pay more later.

When I bought my foreman from them, they filed all the LA paperwork for me and I just paid everything through Brookhaven. They will need to know parish of residence to get the tax rate. I was in and out in approximately 45 minutes and on my way back home with my bike in back the truck.

Yep. I know several people who bought from them and they all got turned into the state.

Well crap. Didn't know if it was similar to the thousands of dollars a year in amazon purchases that people make and never report on their taxes, or if they'd actually know I bought it. Still worth the drive though to save a little $. Thanks for the info!

I just bought a rubicon from Honda of Covington. They will match Brookhaven or any other price that you can find better. Great people to work with!

Mention the name of brookhaven at friendly and they will beat that price.
If they don't, ask for Mark directly and tell him what's going on.

not when i bought my foreman in 2008ish. They basically laughed me off when i told them price needed to match brookhaven. I'm pretty sure brookhaven filed my taxes for me when bought.

I've bought dozens of dirt bikes over the last 25 years... not a single one from Friendly because they absolutely will not come down off a price. Well...sometimes they will a bit but then they add in a $400 assembly fee. Their part prices are absurd too.
And on the tax thing... years ago dealers never turned the info in, but now they most certainly do. You will get a bill.

So it's $250 difference.
Out the door (no tax being paid at purchase) and price + tax is the same thing.

Maybe they have new owners since they built the new one off the service road.

No it's 250 more at Friendly before taxes, and they didn't have any in stock and really couldn't tell me when they'd get one. Their prices are all msrp. I called Brookhaven in the friendly parking lot and got their price.
I'm not worried about the drive to Brookhaven. I drive to mccomb every few weeks for work. I'm used to it and Brookhaven isn't much further.

Yeah. He's the GM for both dealerships. He went home last weekend I think.
To get wholesale honda pricing, all you have to do is mention brookhaven. Seriously.
For the guy who says they don't come down on dirt bikes, you're doing it wrong.
I've bought a 500 foreman, a rhino, a grizzly, a pair of crf50s, and tons of arais and parts, I've never paid more than dealer cost on bikes (they make hold back), and I never pay more than cost plus 15 on parts (I get them to price match everything).
Friendly price matches online parts sites and will beat any dealer on pricing. All you have to do is ask.
