What's the going rate these days?
Cedar, or Pine

It's priced per linear foot, not square.
I think $8 per foot is what you want to negotiate for.

That's about what you will spend to do it yourself. About double that to have it built.

That's right. I knew we had this thread a while back, because I was interested in putting one up as well.

I am just south of Memphis. I paid $14/ft last summer. had a 10' gate installed, with 6x6 post for the gate. That included permits as well.

if that was $14ft with gates included then you got a good deal.
To the OP, $14-15ft for basic 6ft treated pine fence.

Related question... So I have cedar on all three sides of the backyard. The back side needs to be replaced since it's the oldest section. Is there any issue with installing pine across the back and leave the sides cedar? The sides are around 11 years old but they're still in good shape.

Yes, $14 for pine, with gate and permit.

They won't be quite the same color even after aging. Also, some of the pine boards will warp after going through their drying process. Those boards can be replaced but it will look unsightly until they weather like the other boards. I'd probably go back with cedar unless I just absolutely couldn't afford it.

I built a pine fence myself last year and it was $7 a ft. Double that for turn key.

Can afford it, but may not want to given that we may not be in the house but for another 2-3 years. Thoughts on that?

2-3 years is a long time. Just go cedar.

If don't think the different colored fences will hurt your resale then I guess go for it. Although I will say if installing yourself then cedar is a good bit easier to deal--also about twice as expensive as pine. Cedar also has much less warp-age. Seems the quote for cedar fencing was like $20ft installed.
I'd have to let someone else comment on just how bad the two different woods contrast after weathering as I don't have first-hand experience. You may be able to drive around a neighborhood and look at fences and see if anyone tried the mix-n-match.

We normally charge $20-22/ft cedar installed.
