Pre-Season Tuneup
(Apologies for video orientation, buddy was filming)

Finally got around to heading out to the trainer to get some tune up action. Been running small pattern poles in the back yard but, wanted to get some long yardage marks and blinds in.

Shortest mark was approx 75yds, longest was 250+ while crossing an old fall. Blind was about 200 through a pond.(Video stopped recording before the blind).

Without some poor handling by me he would've hammered all marks.

Felt good to get out and spend the day working dogs. Anyone else trying to get their hunting buddy back in shape?

I quit training and may just quit duck hunting since there is no way Team Grey Duck can catch up with all this Canada shite.

I try to exercise my dog throughout the year. And we'll run drills about once a month during spring and summer, but not with that much distance. We worked Sat and Sun last weekend, running blinds from about 75 to 150 yds. I was happy and my dog was too. It was a nice weekend to be out. Can't wait for the season. Going to work on blinds this weekend.

Yeah obviously those distances never happen in a hunting scenario lol, but my dog was trained for them and it's nice to know I can set my dog on a line and run him till I can't see him anymore just in the off chance a goose sails down far away.
