I am looking for a reasonably priced pistol in the 9mm range. I am willing to pay more for a higher quality item but I don't want to pay more just for a certain name brand.

Any suggestions?

What do you consider reasonably priced?

Could not be happier with my PPQ-M2 in 9mm. I read many times over how the trigger was awesome, and thought "how much better could a trigger be than all other guns?" The forums/bloggers/YouTube'ers were all right. The breakover is to die for. The grips are better than any I have ever felt.

Very solid pistol. I have about 500rds through mine, and the only hiccups have happened with the old lady. She limp wrists it and sometimes gets a FTL. I've never had trouble with it

Gonna be limited to stay under 400. You can stay under 500 and have some fairly good choices.

500ish is not totally out of the question if the pistol is really worth the extra money.

This...

You can probably find a good used Glock, or M&P in the $450 range. Lots of Glock hate on this board, but they are good guns. The Smith and Wesson M&P's are as well.

Agreed, especially if it's going to be a concealed carry gun, if not look at the full size M&P's

First you need to figure out what you're gonna use it for. These both have very different good choices for firearms and if you want one that will do both you will have to sacrifice a little in both categories.

Check out my video on first time firearm buyers. Even if you have other guns and have owned them for some time it will give you some perspective on what the intended purpose of it is.

Also know that this pistol will probably outlive you. And that firearms are one of the best investments you can make. It will retain most of its value if you ever wish to sell it.

I will readily admit that I know very little about guns, including the prices. A Springfield Armory XD was recommended to me. I was just wondering if that is a good choice for a new gun owner or if maybe there is something comparable for a bit less money.

Aren't you one of the fellow 10mm owners here?

I can see no one here has shot/felt the Walther

Yes it is

Ruger SR9c
Glock 19
S&W M&P
all good choices. And around the $500 range.

I like the Sig SP2000 in 9mm for the price range you are looking at.
