I have for the past two years. MUCH cheaper and i think it looks pretty good. It fades much faster than regular mulch, so you may have to touch it up with more in the mid-summer months.

ETA - i'll never use mulch again. Just make sure you get some thats not carrying weeds in it. I always get a few bushels from home depot and put it over last years batch. That way you dont need as much for it to look full.

I just use leaves, they're free and look fine to me. Have a ton of leaves each winter and figured the decomposing process would add nutrients and last time I burned them the freaking fire dept showed up (which is weird since i am outside the city limits and all my neighbors do it...) so now i have free mulch!

That's all my Dad has ever used. I still go rake him up a flatbed trailer full of it every year.

One, it falls from the trees in my yard, I rake it up and move to the flower beds.

I think it looks good and my yard has several 80' pines so all I have to do is rake it up and move it into the beds.

Watch a little bit of the Masters golf play next month. The groundskeepers at Augusta National are artists with pine straw.

Same here. It usually involves loading it in an old trash can or wheel barrow and moving it around front to the beds. What doesn't get raked up I run over with the mower.

If you have those big red wasp, they love building nest in any portion that has an air space.

Mulching with pine needles ensures proper pH soil levels for azaleas and rhododendrons throughout the growing season.

The groundskeepers at Augusta make contoured pine straw beds in areas that are too shady for the turf grass. I'm trying to use that technique in my yard but can't keep the critters out of it.

Work uses pine straw and it looks good. It does fade. I have been watching and timing the fade. Not bad actually. If done spring and late fall it will look good. Cheap too. This is my future route

When old stuff needs to be replaced. Rake it out and roll over it with the lawn mower. Chop that shite up

Purchase longleaf pinestraw if you can find it in your area. It lasts longer than slash or loblolly.
