This is a big topic of discussion for hunters and fisherman in our state. I have signed petitions like this before, and nothing came of it. Doesn't hurt to sign another one, maybe eventually someone can get our government to come to their senses and be like every other state!

Just free for fisherman and birdwatchers. Duck hunters still have to pay and I'm going to recommend that they take out insurance in case they pepper a fisherman....

I liked you better when you were trolling me all the time. Upvoting you just feels weird.

TX allows everything below mean high tide open to the public. In my opinion the Texas coast varies quite a bit from the LA coast given that LA coastal landowners dry ground is eroding and what was originally theirs in many places is now under water - it is definitely a gray area and not as black/white as TX has it.

I'm not sure there is a very good answer here.

Not saying the petition is useless or not to sign it, but there are legit things being worked on that COULD legitimately make a change. The petition could just be another log to throw on the fire.

Except in Louisiana they want my tax dollar to pay for their land eroding. I'm fine if you want to pay for it yourself and then choose to draw your gun on your unmarked land towards unknowingly fisherman.

In the very least they should go back to requiring no trespassing signs. Fishermen don't have 1800 maps of their GPS and the maps look nothing like what is really out there.

This petition needs to die.

I own my land and the water on it. Learn not to trespass, get over it, and get off my damn lawn

Troy Landry recently gated one of the most popular canals in the Verret area, and word on the street is he's about to gate another one!!!!

If that's the case, just know that the duck hunters always win. I've seen unspeakable crimes in the tidal marsh ro protect duck land at the expense of vibrant hatcheries. Duck guys have the money and organization.

So the state representatives are supposed to go to battle against potential donors? Just avoid shite holes like Leeville and Golden Meadow
