"Perko" switch - especially Nautic Star owners.

So, my battery on/off switch in my boat exploded. I had to just hard wire it from behind the jump seat. I'd like to get a new one of the same brand for obvious fitting reasons. What kind is that? I cannot find a pic on the web just like mine. I don't think it's a Perko. It just had on/off with red and green areas.
Any others that are known to fit that spot in the fiberglass?

West Marine has several different manufacturers of switches to pick from.... also Frey's electronics online for cheaper alternative

That is what switch is in my frontier. I think its similar to what nautic star uses. my cousin has the switch on his xts 21

Do you think those mounting holes are pretty standard? I guess I can just measure and then check out West next time I go to Laffy.

I am sure they are, that's a common battery switch outside of the perko ones. I've seen several boats with this one including mine.

Does the existing one not have a model number or anything on it? maybe molded ont othe back of it? Look on Iboats or Wholesale marine and see if you can find it. If all else fails, measure your existing hole pattern and you can search through Perko or Blue Seas for a match or a "close enough"

Thanks. I'll check it for that later if I still have the front part. It may have blown out the boat.

Exploded was a bit of an exaggeration. All of a sudden, I just stopped feeling any resistance at all when turning it. No power to anything. When I looked at the back of it, the rear section had simply com loose. A spring flew out of it and I heard some parts hit the floor. Its very cramped there and hard for me to see anything. I just moved one of the cables to the other bolt to bypass the switch.

I would have said the same a few weeks ago.

I don't think that's any kind of standard pattern. You should be able to google a templet for the perko one and then try find an equivalent that way.

Had the same Perko you are taking about and it certainly did fall apart. The internals simply said I'm done with this $hit...
Alx. Consider securing a piece of Starboard with epoxy where the old one was and screwing the new swith to the Starboard. That way if it keeps happening, you won't have to worry about multiple holes in your boat.

Had the same thing happen in my buddy's 2007 Nautic star, except it still felt the same when changing from on/off position. It went out after we got to the first spot and were going to leave... That was a fun trouble shoot without a volt meter! I ended up using the jumper wire from the trolling batteries to Afro engineer it since the nuts were too corroded to get off the back of the perko switch. Still fished the rest of the day.
I will try and look at the one we replaced the factory one with and let you know this weekend.
