Which model should I get? 2500 or 3000 for inshore (specks, reds, flounder)? I was leaning towards the 2500, but wanted to see if anyone has any experience with it for inshore fishing.

the 2500 can handle it all with 15 braid and cast a mile. thats what i use. 3000 exclusively for doubles.

I use mono though.

Anywhere in Mandeville Covington carry them so I can compare size?

Is it bigger than a Sedona 2500?

I have 2 of the 3000's bought about 6 months ago. One of them is already failing(bearing issues). I have a few friends that are charter guides and they were the reason that I bought mine. They have now switched back to Shimano due to issues. Not sure what Shimano model.

Get the smaller one if it's lighter. Mine is heavy as shite. I usually use it last. It makes an expensive rod feel like a cheap fiberglass combo. Shimano way lighter.

The reviews on these are on the extremes, either awesome or horrible.

Just picked up a 2500. FYI its limit 1 per customer.

IMO Battle 2 on sale + UgliStik is ultimate budget setup you can hand to kids/women/inexperienced. I dont mind using them either. Ive caught a 42" bull red on Battle 2 2000. The drag didnt like it but it worked. Ive noticed they take semi teardown, cleanup, and lube often but they are fantastic IMO.

ETA: my only complaint is anti reverse will quit without warning if youve gone long period of time without cleaning and lubing.

Just went to West Marine and looked at the 3000 going to get that one simply because of the greater line capacity since I use a lot of mono.

The limit is one per customer per model. You could order a 2500 and 3000. I ended up ordering the 2500 and I am having my mom and wife order an additional 2500 each for me.

Am I the only one that read this as "Penn Battle ... 2 for $60"?

I have a couple and love them.

My son wants to go surf fishing, is the 6000/8000 good for that application?

For trout and reds, you just want a regular combo 2500 or 3000 size with a medium or so action rod.

For surf fishing like is typical in Florida, I would just buy a surf combo from academy or something.

Well, damn...

I ordered one of each (6k/8k). Should I send them back?

This is for Fla. in a couple of weeks. I was going to buy a couple of 10' 2pc Ugly Sticks and turn him loose.

They will work well for that.

I just always buy the cheap combos for surf fishing. But those will be perfect.
