Are you going to find deals? Or just save $10?

or spend $10 more than the going rate...

Once upon a time there was the odd chance to find something cheap. Then Google ruined that.
The only "deals" I have found were for really ratty shotguns that I used to buy and clean up for my duck hunter buddies.

Been looking to buy a M&P shield and a pawn had it for $15 cheaper new, and one for $50 cheaper used. Compared to Academy

1. know how much the item is worth
2. bid low, way low
3. be prepared to walk away, stick to your max
4. if you can follow these and see something you like, you can get some deals

The shop owners and their friends normally get the most desirable stuff before it ever hits the case.

Depends on the pawn shop. Some don't seem to carry anything but the usual Jennings and High Pernts, some will have NIB Sigs. Probably the best deal I saw on a new Sig SP2020 was at a pawn shop in Birmingham.

Years ago, I bought a Jam master(742) for $150 and traded it for a new in the box 20ga wingmaster for my son. Sweet gun and still have it.

I've been looking for a lever action 30-30 and the 2 pawn shops I've been to are asking $100 over what people on louisianasportsman are asking. Outrageous

pretty typical in my experience. pawn shop owners are shysters by their very nature. they screw people for a living...

Felons will pay a little more than most of us are willing to.

Just because the tag says $300 don't mean they won't take $275 or less cash for it. I bought 2 aluminum Rigid pipe wrenches today for $50 they are $140 new.

Absolute truth if you add "and their close family". My son runs the gun part of 5 stores for a major pawn chain. The great deals never, ever hit the floor.
For example I have a Winchester model 70 30-06 with a Luepold 3x9 vxII on it and I have under 500 total in it.
Priced retail that's over 1,000 I also have a Springfield XDs in .45 with the integrated crimson trace lazer all in I am under $200 for that gun. Not a mark on it.
Lots of great deals you just aren't likely to see them.
