give me the eave height of the new roof, the length of the eave, the space between the new roof and the exterior wall of the house, and the type of sheathing on the house. Also whether you want the water to go to the front or the back of the new roof

also the length ridge to eave of the low roof and of the house

you could also do an internal gutter as 4LSU2 suggested but that would require sawing off your eave strut

I was up there in March during a heavy rainstorm and he is going to need something to move some serious water. Can anyone calculate the water coming off the two roofs if given the eve to ridge measurements to account for heavy rains?

The gabled roof spans a total of 26 feet. I am not sure what the pitch is. Not very steep. I would say half of it is maybe 18 feet. That's a poor poet's guess.

The room it ties into was an addition way back in '64. It also has a fairly low pitch. That room is 18 feet wide. So maybe 13 feet there????

The new pavilion is 32 feet long.

Hope that helps.

Is there a way to gutter the metal roof to not allow the water to hit your roof line at all? Basically have 2 separate guttering systems. Can't really tell w pics, crazy roof line where it comes down there. I'd hate for that water to hit your roof w all the extra water on top of water from you're existing roof

My original plan was pretty much that way. I was gonna have each roof have its own gutter. But my friend is the owner of a large metal roof company. He came out and designed it this way. And said it was better for one roof to dump onto the other and just have one gutter system. I honestly didn't even question him about why. He knows what he's doing, so I followed his advice

And then there is that I think with the right gutter size in place it will flow fine. It will be a lot of water but bet it can be done.
