Buddy is getting married weekend before Thanksgiving, and I've been charged with planning a bachelor party with the following specs:

Activity preference 1) Cast/Blast 2) Hunting or Fishing 3) Camping

Budget per person should not exceed $1,000

Trip length - arrive Thursday night, leave after Sunday morning hunt/fish

Majority of the guys (10-12 expected attendees) live along I-10 between Houston & New Orleans

Some initial thoughts were Cast/Blast for Teal Opener in SE Texas or Cast/Blast in Venice for Big Duck opener.

What would you do?

ETA-please include anything you think I should look into.

Oh and the worst rule - no strippers!

1) He needs to put his foot down and not get married during hunting and football season. Your duties as best man should include setting him straight or he will never come outdoors to play ever again.

2) Once the event is rescheduled for the summer, decide on a weekend at the beach and let the other guys recruit their own strippers/ talent for the group.

I would recommend blast/cast during the teal opener.

No telling what next year will be like during big duck season with the weather and new zone dates, but this year has been an absolute dumpster fire.

Venice being your best bet honestly during the back end of September. You can go offshore and kill the snapper and whatever other reef fish. Then come back in and at that point the bull reds will be heading to the major passes.

I find that teal season is a relatively consistent, you just never know.

If it were me I would honestly just focus on fishing, good times to be had in Venice. Duck hunting is too dynamic to plan this far ahead for.

second the teal opener
lafitte is another good option, assuming you will be hiring a guide
if the weather is shite you'll be closer to New Orleans for a plan B

I would head over to the guide section of Texas Hunting Forum and make a posting saying your have 10-12 guys willing to spend $750pp for a long weekend and see what they offer. You might be surprised how far your money can go...

This does make me nervous. I think with as much as this group drinks, focusing on fishing only may be the safest bet.

If we did fishing only then I was thinking about Big Lake, and having casinos/golf close by if anyone preferred to do those.

If you could get opening weekend in Venice in November I would do that. IMO there is no finer month in Venice than November on a normal year it's awesome even if a storm hits. September there ALWAYS seems to be a disturbance of some sort in the gulf this will greatly affect your hunting. If you do teal season I would consider Texas but off the coast some to avoid storms.

IF you do Venice only one place I would go for what you are looking for www.saltgrassoutdoors.com. Just voted top three nicest lodges in LA. I have no financial interest by promoting owners are my best friends and put on a great time and can be in your budget.

Hammer, thanks for the recommendation. How do they feel about drunk and disorderly conduct? We wouldn't break anything, just a lot of practical jokes and what not.

Welcome to Bikinis & Bait, how can we help you? For 12K I can assure your group a time no one will soon forget. And we would never employ trashy strippers, only the finest hookers help wet our customers lines......

One day fellas, one day.....

His wife's family has two camps. He proposed while they were deer hunting, I think he is going to be fine everyone.

Completely acceptable, and encouraged.

He sounds like a PUSSY arse BITCH.

1. Tell your PAB friend to man the frick up, and to put his future wife in check. Seeing as you're the best man it is imperative that you see to it that he does not start his marriage off on the wrong foot.

2. Backpage for strippers or go to your local strip club/whore house, try before you buy, and settle on some talented entertainment. Disregard his request because he doesn't really mean it. Could you say no to a huge set of perky titties in your face? NO, I didn't think so.

3. Tell the group they need to up their budget by $700. How does one travel, pay for lodging, do blow, do assorted strippers, fish, hunt and drink on no more than $1,000? It's not possible and you will be severely limited.

4. Venice is likely the best option because duck hunting, off shore or in shore fishing will likely be the best the south can offer this time of year. Look up sportsman lodge(?). It's a house boat that does pay one price for meals, lodging, and alcohol. Super nice accommodations and nice folks. The alcohol is well stocked with both beer and liquor. The guy who runs it does inshore fishing. I think he runs a pretty good service and should be reasonable on price. Duck hunting and tuna fishing guides can found easily enough as well. Due to the cost this is likely out of your price range, but it is by far the best option.

5. All other options will not be nearly worth the time, effort, or $. Hackberry Rod & Gun, a Lafitte blast and cast maybe with the Toefield guide with the sea plane ( I know of a badass camp that will sleep 20), hunting on my lease with renting out some cabins (strippers would be nonnegotiable for this to happen).

6. Alternatives: Get the people to contribute according to their means for a better trip. Daddy's got money? Charge them $300 more. Make a $100,000k/yr: you're gonna have to chip in an extra $200. Got a boat? You have to bring it!

On a serious note....

Check out Cap't Charlie at Bayou Charters in Hopedale (30 minutes from downtown NOLA). The lodge can adequately support your crew. You can stay Friday and Saturday nights, book an inshore fishing trip on Saturday, then head to NOLA for Saturday evening. You can sit around the lodge for spirits and fellowship Friday evening to insure everyone has a decent head for the fishing trip.

Another option would be to stay there Friday night and leave after the fishing on Saturday to stay the night at Harrah's in the quarter. You would have $300 to $400 each tied up in the lodging and fishing and endless possibilities for Saturday evening in the quarter.

Real Outfitters in Ft. McKavitt Texas. 3 day Dove hunt early September. We stayed 3 nights with 16 guys at $500 a person. Nice Lodge in the middle of the texas brush country. Hunt axis doe for extra $250 for bachelor. We brought our breakfast and a pastalaya rig for one night. They fed us 2 nights, steaks and Texas BBQ. Brought boudin, smoked sausage, and Hoghead cheese for lunches. 1 guide for each of our 4 person groups. Went predator hunting at night and was very successful. Awesome trip.
