Just thought I'd share with those of you that have done this and/are going (or planning) through it.

Back wall will be a full wall, not half-wall as indicated in drawing below.

Can't come soon enough for us either. My wife is growing impatient. 3 months in, probably about 6 to 8 weeks to go.

DON'T put a blue finish on the pool. ours had it and didnt last - just like the pool guy said. ended up with a concrete-grey finish after 10 yrs.

The color that I believe we are going to choose for plaster is Bahama Breeze.

I expect some fading, but I don't expect it to completely turn to grey in 10 years. Are you confident it was installed and applied correctly?

cant say. the pool came with the house when we bought it. we filled it in 2 yrs ago bc some family members down the road have one and i had enough of the upkeep. i dont want to sound like debbie downer, but its one less thing keeping me from my ongoing quest to remove all spec trout from louisiana waters

ps: it looks really nice

Understood. I have two small children who I know will get many years of enjoyment out of it. I had a pool growing up and I am fortunate that I am able to do the same for them as my parents did for me.

Doesn't mean I won't fill this sucker in one day either.

It's certainly not in a gated community.

Oh crap. Is this a joke about my wife again?

My parents installed one about 5 years ago, and it has been awesome having all the kids/cousins (their grandchildren) over all the time for holidays and pool parties. Then, last year she had a heater installed in the pool, so now the kids are swimming close to 10 months out of the year. In fact, we spent the whole day over there today swimming. The only thing that would have been better was if the saints could have pulled out a win.

Looks awesome by the way. I bet your kids are excited too!

Do you know what their heater costs them on top of their normal gas bill to run?

Not off hand but I can find out. Once it's colder, they usually only crank the heater up on the weekends when the kids come and just leave it on both days (but adjust the temp when no one is using it) because it can take a while to warm up.

Not to change the subject but were you the poster that was talking about a cough the other day?
