We weren't really looking for a dog but having recently lost one. Our remaining Dog was very sad with out the company so when this Border collie pup came available we jumped on her. She is a real joy all puppy teeth and toe nails very playful scary smart and fun to have around.
For more pictures and videos and the story of life with Jollie here is a blog post telling about her to date. We cant wait for more adventures with this playful pup.

Very cool. Congrats. I think dogs who have another dog in the house are much happier...it SEEMS like they amuse each other and is easier to care for than one dog.

So true and being older its hard for me to keep up with a very active pup like jollie the bratty Bichon helps us keep her active and has been a great help with training. She is learning very fast.

At not quite 6 months she is still much a pup. Very playfull and toothing so ya know what that means. We can already tell she is very smart. If you saw the videos I posted you can see she is every bit the playful mischievous pup.

I grew up having shelties. Do BC have the same temperament?

No, BCs are 100x what Shelties are in the energy department and lose their shite faster/destroy stuff if you don't provide exercise/work for them. They are very similar in a lot of ways though. BCs are smarter, Shelties are a bit more unique in their mischievous ways I think, they seem to know more how to work a person over to get away with it.

I've kept Border Collies for decades. Best dog on the planet.
That being said, an untrained Border Collie will ruin your life and make you swear off dogs forever.
Not just smart, but intelligent. They can figure stuff out like you wouldn't believe.
You need to work the pup both physically and mentally every day. Make damn sure it has a rock solid recall and a down. You should be able to down it from 100 yds away dead in its tracks.
The mental work comes from obedience training. They love it,they love to learn, and they want to make you happy. You both win with consistent training.

A friend of mine has a BC. The BC figured out if he got close enough to the invisible fence the shock collar alarm would go off and run the battery down. When the beeping stopped he could go where ever he wanted without getting shocked.
